1. Install and activate your banner
- Open the QookieQloud listing in the Shopify App Store and install the app in the store you want to manage.
- In Shopify Admin, open Apps → QookieQloud. Follow the setup prompts and check that the correct storefront domain is connected.
- Select Open theme editor. In App embeds, enable QookieQloud for the theme you intend to use and save your changes.
- Open the storefront in a private browser window and check that the banner appears where your consent settings require it.
Done when: the app shows the store as connected, the embed is enabled in your published theme and the banner appears for a new visitor in the relevant region.
Check that you saved the app embed in the published theme. A saved visitor choice or regional consent setting can affect whether the banner appears. Test in a fresh private session.
2. Make the banner fit your store
- Open QookieQloud from Shopify Admin and choose Manage banner.
- Review the available layout, text and language settings. Premium plans provide additional customization, including custom CSS and your own logo.
- Keep the accept, reject and preference options easy to read and use. Check that any policy link points to your store’s intended page.
- Save your settings, then view the storefront on both desktop and mobile.
Done when: the banner text is readable, buttons are easy to use and the banner does not cover essential storefront controls.
3. Review your cookies and categories
- Open your connected domain in QookieQloud and review the available cookie scan results.
- Check each detected cookie’s provider, purpose and category. Investigate unfamiliar entries before accepting a classification.
- If your plan includes AI-assisted classification, review its suggestions against the cookie’s actual purpose.
- Save any category changes and check that the categories shown to visitors match your intended settings.
Done when: you have reviewed the detected cookies and identified any entries that still need investigation.
New apps, pixels and marketing tags can change what your storefront loads. Revisit the cookie review when you add or change these tools.
4. Test visitor choices and consent records
- Open your storefront in a fresh private browser session.
- Test accepting, rejecting and saving individual category choices. Use a new session for each initial-choice scenario.
- Reopen the cookie preferences using the storefront’s consent control and change your selection.
- Review the corresponding consent records in QookieQloud. Check that the saved choices match the actions you tested.
- If you use analytics or advertising tags, use their testing tools to check how they behave before and after consent. Ask your developer to help if needed.
Done when: visitors can save and revise their choices, the records reflect those choices and you have checked the behavior of the tags your store uses.
5. Check consent after changing your theme
- Open the new theme in Shopify’s theme editor.
- Go to App embeds, enable QookieQloud and save.
- Once that theme is published, visit the live storefront in a fresh private session.
- Repeat the visitor-choice checks above and review the banner on mobile.
Done when: the QookieQloud embed is active in the newly published theme and visitors can use the banner and reopen preferences.
